About the Site
- Who: Serena Smith registered and created this domain and web site.
What: A collective online portfolio of myself and some of my work.
When: I first decided an online portfolio with my own domain name would be a good idea during the Summer of 2004. I finally came up with a domain name I liked in Feruary of 2005.
Where: The majority of the page itself is made on my iMac. My photos were most likely taken in Illinois, since I don't leave the state much. Where in Illinois, I prolly wont remember that much. If I get my drawings scanned in and uploaded, the majority of them were drawn for projects in my Drawing 1 class at Parkland College.
Why: I fell in love with web design at the age of 12. It's been one of my favorite past times - creating web pages - ever since. I even tought myself HTML. After a 2 year break, I decided I wanted to sharpen up my skills again and create an online portfolio of my graphic design work. After trying to figure out a domain name forever and continually coming up with immature names such as Pink-Bandaid, I came up with Wasted Ink. The name of it was music to my ears. Literally. I came up with the name while listening to a Bright Eyes song called "Waste of Paint." But in my case, I figured Ink would be better since I sort of wasted a lot of ink in my graphic design courses my first and second semester.
How: The first layout that I actually uploaded was a template. After awhile, I figured I wanted something more "me." So I finally sat down and took the time to play with DreamWeaver, and here's the new layout!
